1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/2 C Milk
1 Tbsp Butter plus more for topping
Nutella Filling
Nutella
Cream Cheese Filling
8 oz Cream Cheese - Softened
1/3 C Powdered Sugar
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
Preparation
As if French toast wasn’t already good enough. If you really feel like laying in a food coma all day after breakfast, this is the recipe for you!
Start by slicing pockets into your bread slices with a pairing knife. Make sure not to cut all the way through the other side.
For the Nutella filling, simply heat in the microwave in 5-10 second increments until a little runny. Use a spoon or piping bag to fill your bread with the filling.
For the cream cheese filling, whisk the ingredients in a bowl until homogenous and fill in the same manner.
Make the custard by adding the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract and cinnamon in a wide bowl (9x9 dish works great) and whisking together. This helps incorporate the cinnamon before adding the milk. Then add the milk and whisk together.
Heat a large nonstick pan on medium low heat and add the butter. When the butter is melted, dip the slices of bread in the custard and thoroughly coat each side (but don’t overdo it, you don’t want it to be too soggy).
Place the slices in the pan and cook 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Keep the pan at the medium-low heat because you want to cook it slower since the slices are really thick.
Plate with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
